The Relationship Between a Trailer, Poster and Magazine Cover

One major/common feature of a film's promotional package, including a magazine cover, poster, website and film trailer, is that the films unique selling points will be clearly visible on each promotional item to make sure they all link together and show the main focus and important features of the film. These aspects of the film and the promotional package will all act together to promote the film. For example, the main unique selling points of our film are the cast and the director. The cast for our film are all relatively well-known and recognised actors and have all been in large, successful films previously. Similarly, we chose Clint Eastwood as the director of our film seeing as he is extremely well respected in the film industry, produces good, critically-acclaimed films and films of the same genre as ours. This means that we will need to incorporate these selling points into our magazine cover and poster, as well as our film.

I have researched both films from the the film franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy, to see how their promotional products show the unique selling points of the film. I have done this through a Prezi and provided the posters, magazine covers, film trailers and websites.

Finally, the film poster, trailer and website are all above the line costs as they have had money spent on them by the distribution company to be created for the purpose of promoting the film. However, the magazine cover is a below the line cost as it is free and still brings publicity to the film. Magazines are a good marketing tool for promoting both the film and the magazine brand itself.
