Film Trailer First Draft Audience Feedback

We have showed our trailer to our friends and other people that are members of our target audience and this post will state some of the feedback we have received on how to improve the trailer.

These are the main improvements suggested through the questionnaire:

- Music in last scene doesn't fit

- Poor video quality

- Give more implication that there is crime involved

- Make transitions between scenes smoother

- Make the music overlap to remove unnatural pause/silence

- Perhaps have more action

- Maybe make the trailer quicker, with more fast paced editing

- Make the kidnapping stand out more

- Make sure voices can be heard

My Thoughts on our Trailer

- Add director name

- Make speech quicker, punchier and maybe make it play over action shots

- Add text transition slides, like endorsements

- Maybe increase the speed of some shots or the overall speed of the editing

- Dialogue may be too long
- Needs an age certification screen

Overall, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done on our trailer to make it as good as it can possibly be, hence why this was only a rough cut trailer. There are certain things that aren't so drastic that we can edit rather easily, like the volume of certain shots and different on-screen effects, like text etc. However, there are also certain things that will need to be massively overhauled, like the main plot of the story, in order to make the film trailer make sense and also fit the conventions of our chosen genre even more and make it clearer to the viewers.
